Chander's Story
In the 1980s, Chander arrived in Switzerland with a dream and a longing for home. Far from India, he missed the flavors, the warmth, the soul of the food he grew up with. Rather than resign himself to that absence, he decided to do something about it. In the mid-1990s, he opened his own restaurant—a place where he could share the North Indian cuisine he loved, cooked with the same care and passion his family had always brought to the table.
What began as a way to reconnect with home evolved into something deeper. In 2010, Chander made a pivotal decision: to become fully vegetarian. It wasn't about limitation—it was about discovery. He realized that North Indian cuisine, with its centuries-old vegetarian traditions, offered endless possibilities for creating dishes that were not just meatless, but genuinely nourishing and joyful. Fresh vegetables, legumes, aromatic spices, and organic ingredients became the foundation of everything he served.
Today, Chez Chander is more than a restaurant—it's an extension of Chander's commitment to quality, authenticity, and personal care. Every dish is prepared with the same attention he'd give to a meal for his own family. Organic ingredients are sourced thoughtfully. Each Thali is made fresh, not mass-produced.
